Worldschooling Hub La Gomera 22.11.-07.12.2025

In December 2020, Blattwerk Naturpädagogik Berlin opened the ‘Alegría’ (meaning ‘joy’) on La Gomera, Valle Gran Rey directly on the beach of Vueltas. Our rooms serve people as a seminar venue, coworking space, cultural and meeting centre for families, groups and individual work.

Three high-quality furnished rooms offer a wide range of possibilities: Seminar rooms for groups of up to 14 people, a creative room for Arno Stern’s painting game, soul painting and art therapy work, a coworking space for lecturers, freelancers, workshop leaders, therapists, for further training, etc.

Alegría aims to reconnect people of all ages. Courses, workshops, seminars, open meetings and community-building activities take place on a regular basis. Our spaces are dedicated to peace and freedom for people of all nationalities and religions. We speak Spanish, English and German.

La Gomera the magical canary island in the atlantic

The island of La Gomera offers everything that makes the alternative heart beat faster: small beaches, a manageable village with three organic shops, a fairytale jungle, alternative people including many artists and musicians.

Valle gran rey has been a place for dropouts and hippies since the 70s. The alternative charm has been preserved and can be found in many places in the small village. On the beach there is drum music at sunset, fire shows, street artists, etc. Everything is within walking distance and a perfect place for families. No matter where you park your campervan or have your accommodation, you can be at the beach or alegria in short time.

You can get to the mountains and the Garajonay jungle quickly by public bus, taxi, hire car or your own car. In addition to our rooms by the sea, we are designing 7000 square metres of land in the Garajonay jungle in Arure according to the principles of permaculture. The site is still in the design process, but is already used for meetings.

We can spend days together in the forest, make fires and cook together, go hiking, try tree climbing with rope climbing techniques, get to know plants and trees, play games, create land art, etc. Our meeting is partly organised by us but also offers enough time and space for you to implement your own ideas.

Our Alegria is located directly on the harbour beach of Vueltas and can be reached in a short time once you have found your location in Valle Gran Rey (beaches). We would like to organise a camp that offers an infrastructure on site, but also leaves room for your own ideas and implementation.

The price per adult is 150,-€ and 100,-€ for children from 6 years (incl. 6x Alegria course, 2 x day trip with programme, material, organisation, information). Parents are responsible for looking after their children and accompanying them to the courses and excursions. Younger siblings are welcome to take part in the day trips. Please speak about the possibilities with us.

Hub schedule: Saturday 22.11.2025 welcome and closing circle (Sunday 07.12.2025), on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (6 x course including for people aged 6 and over) there are workshops at Alegria from 3-5 pm: free painting, wood workshop, making herbal salt, felting fairies, clay workshop, soap making, etc. If the Worldschooling group exists, we will ask which courses are desired. We will try to fulfil your wishes. There should be enough space for free time and creative participation of the families. During this time, Alegria will also be available for our group workshops, massages, music, theatre, etc.

On two days we organise an excursion with all the families:

On our 7000 square metres of land near the Garajonay forest, we can pet the chickens together, play table tennis, plant trees, play outdoor games and enjoy nature. We organise our land according to the guidelines of permaculture. We plan the second excursion together and will organise tree climbing with rope climbing technique, fire making and some workshops. Let us surprise you.

Self-organised activities: making music on the beach (we have instruments), swimming, football, bodyboard surfing, sand games, circus (we have material), family gatherings, etc.

In addition, we can organise other activities: close-to-nature whale watching, oceanography, kayaking, etc. (extra costs)

For adults, it is possible to attend art therapy sessions, apnea diving, massages, women’s circles, yoga, etc. (extra costs)

Be alcohol, smoke and drug free with us! Mindful use of media and we recommend healthy food when we are together!

Arrival, departure, accommodation and organisation

Arrival and departure are organised by the participants themselves. We are happy to support you with this. We would like to encourage you to plan your trip well and take as much time as possible for your stay. Perhaps you would like to read up on the topics of climate-conscious travelling, flying and climate protection. You can find information on CO2 offsetting at Atmosfair Flights between €100 and €600 from Berlin to Tenerife South. Then take the ferry to La Gomera. It is also possible to travel without a plane from southern Spain directly to the Canary Islands by ferry.

We leave the choice of accommodation to our participants. We can make recommendations for inexpensive accommodation. The seminar location is Vueltas / Valle Gran Rey and from there into the mountains and wild natural landscapes of La Gomera. A hire car is very advantageous and can be shared. Come with your camper and stay over the colourful season until April 2026. it is possible to park for free – there is no campsite only parking spaces.

We will set up a Telegram group for all participants to share accommodation, car hire, organisation and so on.
